Time to pull the bullet proof vest out of storage

.
Kit has just wanderd home to tell me the ab-so-fabulous news.
Tomorrows show I am working at Studio Z is gangsta, hard core. For fuck sake. One more time. When the management comes out with warnings that "this one is going to be really bad" you know its going to be hell, as they like to gloss over any upcomming pleasantness.
I am not ashamed to admit I am a little bit frightened. After the shooting and the last hip-hop event turning into a brawl so large the riot cops showed up, I believe I have good reason to be a bit gun-shy, forgive the pun.
We best have plenty of Henny and Hypnotic around. Oh, and a few extra security would be nice.
Have I mentioned how much I hate where I work, lately?

whoa, who is playing?!

[identity profile] pygmalion.livejournal.com 2004-05-06 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
The Delinquents.
And not the punk band (I was excited at first 'cause I thought it was). With their "famous" song -My t-shirt, Blue Jeans, and Nikes-. ???

Uhm.

WTF? Why invite such disaster?

Z doesn't have to be in firing range of upset moronic gangsta assholes, and he gets cash for them renting the place.
I tell you, they ask for the money in the till, they can have it.

That sucks.

I used to work at a Little Ceasar's in Sacramento, on the shitty side of town. We'd get robbed twice monthly, and I was almost assulted more than once.

Bah, if I were you I'd get my referance and run to another bar. Sound like Z doesn't give a shit about his people's personal safety.

Dear lord.
Why do they keep booking these things?! They know it's suicide! (Or, homicide, as the case may be.)

Are they that desperate for the cash? (You don't have to answer that.)

Demand some riot gear for yourself!

say no

[identity profile] mysterc.livejournal.com 2004-05-06 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh... Thanks for the warning. Feel free to refuse to work shows that you don't feel are safe. seriously. If enough of you start saying NO. Someone is bound to listen. Well, maybe not...

A lot of people do say no. And I have no problem working a lot of the Hip-hop. I get along with the crowed, and am practicallly the only bartender there who does, except for Kit.
I just have no warning on these dangerous shows. They should know better than to schedual me. The last riot I was standing on the bar yelling at them all that they are pussies. I loose it.

your boss has got to be the biggest dipshit that ever walked semi-upright. what the hell is his business agenda? does he only book these shows cuz he can't book any bands that AREN'T shit hop?
