I knew I just needed to get out of the house. Its good to just walk around and get the blood flowing and the brain going. The storm had subsided, and the air was cold, but beautiful.
On the way home from the store, I passed by my neighborhood comic book store. Which just happens to be one of the radist comic book stores around. Isotope. Its where I buy all my "Kabukis". Not because of its decor or hippness. But because of its people and personality.
I pass by the store, walk completely by it, but cannot resist turning around and looking in the window. A man walks out, beer in hand, and says "if you go in, they will give you a beer". Beer in itself is never a temptation, but just a "we like it when people come in" would more than sufficed, or a "hey, its open" would have been a temptation to hard to resist.
I go in, and lo-and-behold, first thing, I was offered a beer. I don't even like beer, but I could not resist the kindness and the idea of mingling with a bunch of people, looking at comics, all with a beer. My geeky dream come true.
I was looking for something new. That guy whos name I cannot remember, Charlotte, what is your friend, the guy witht he dreads, blondish, you know who I mean? What is his name? Well, he was there, and he suggested "Global Frequency". It is a slower comic, with really nice art. I like the slower story, beautiful art ones. I also picked up a Kabuki color special.
On my way out, the guy behind the counter, I believe his name is James, asked if it was okay if he bought me a couple of comics. He gave me "Demo" 1 and 2, and "Scurvy Dogs". Comics which the artists happened to be in the store, so I got my copies signed (he did not tell the artists he didn't charge me).
Its the little things that wash away the frustration and bring a bit of joy. Yea for common geekery grounds :)
