success in friends
Jan. 12th, 2006 04:09 pmAn old friend of mine from highschool seems to be doin' pretty well for himself, up Seattle ways.
He is opening up his own cafe/wine bar.
Befitting, really. He is the guy that used to dress to the nines with me and hit the town. He had a huge black Lincoln Town car, tux tails, and cane. He played the piano with an astounding natural talent. I would sit in his house and just listen to him play for hours. He had this one epic tune he made up he called "The Legend of Greystoke", yes, after the movie. He subscribed to real estate magazines for the filthy rich and we would pour over the pictures of castles and estates. He had one with a castle on an island up in New England. He would go on about his plans for buying the island and what he was going to do with it. We would drive around the exclusive Biltmore district in Phx and gawk at the houses and drive up Camel Back Mtn and visit the Castle up there and stare out at the city lights. I haven't quite had a friend like him since.
He had been living in LA doing animation for things like the Simpson’s and a few others that slip my mind, and crashing parties in the hills. Wish I had been there for that.
Now he is in Seattle. It seems all Phoenicians end up in SF or Seattle at some point.
I really wish I could go to his opening coming up on the 28th.
I wonder if it will be a yuppie place?
