Home Again
Jun. 7th, 2007 04:09 pmThe Greyhound bus finally let us off tuesday afternoon after a hellish morning of stupid. We got a bite to eat, then dragged our bags back home. We climbed into bed to stretch out to the full length of our bodies for the first time in 18 or so hours and get a bit of rest. And we rested. Straight through to the next morning. I am still on a morning schedule and woke up at 6:30am yesterday. This morning I slept in till 8am. Didn't know I had it in me, did ya.
My dad is also home. Home and off his pain meds and doing excellently. Minus the nausea complications, they say they have not seen someone show so much recovery so fast. BTW, he is off the pain meds because they were what was causing all his problems. I asked him if he was in much more pain without them. He said "Exactly the same amount." So, pain killers made him weak and sick and did nothing for his pain. (It may be a hereditary thing. Novocain and other local type anesthetics do very little for me).
Now, back to normal, everyday life for awhile. And maybe a few words about my family every so often. My sister and my brother-in-law are those amazing - wake up by 8am, shuttle the kids to classes, work, pick up kids, build a deck, take karate, grade homework, go to grad school class, do homework, then, if all is done, go to bed - kind of people. When not at the hospital, our days were full of trips to the hardware store, to belt tests, school shopping, grocery shopping, cardio class (them, not me), and many trips to restaurants to try to entertain Kit and I while having the whole family together, etc, etc. I am hoping some of their motivation has stayed with me.
Now, I have missed SF, or at least the people in it. What is happening this saturday-sunday that is fun and exciting?
